Want more? here are some creative extras.

Again, keep it simple

A bit like the previous lecture think of these as assorted shapes on two or four legs.

If you are doing a street scene then a dog on a lead could add interest. If it's a country scene then cows or sheep grazing can make something look more alive.

Next step?

Well that's up to you. Hopefully you now have the basic skills to be able to sketch and paint away for your own amusement and have given yourself permission that it doesn't have to be perfect.

We often have very high expectations of ourselves, especially when it's something creative, and that can sometimes do more damage than good, allow yourself the pleasure of 'the doing' and enjoy the process without paying much attention to the outcome.

If you are already painting in watercolours, creating pictures, use your sketchbook as a resource for storing information. Make notes, test colours and even attach cuttings of possible ideas for future work.

If you are not then you might like to try my 'Painting - you can. Just play & learn. I'll show you how.' course which starts with the very basics of watercolour painting.

What ever you decide keep creating and having fun with your paints, love Nicola
